Ancient Mesopotamia lecture (Geography of Mesopotamia)

So, This is what i have learned on 4th February (hopefully ngam hehe)

-Mesopotamia = The land between rivers

- Ancient Mesopotamia? No concept.. = ='

*Mesopotamia consists of the country Iraq, and those surrounding Iraq such as Syria and
Western Iran
Overview of mesopotamia.

*Strategically important area (for trade, etc)

The geography of Mesopotamia lies at the meeting point of 4 major tectonic plates, thus the movement of plates resulted in significant uplifting and depression of its land, making the terrain mountainous. To the east lies the Zagros Mountain and to the North of Mesopotamia lies the Taurus Mountain. These mountains made it hard for interaction/connection between settlements. To the west however, the terrain is less mountainous, thus making connections easier between one settlement with the other.

There are also presence of rivers along the region. This is an important feature for the Mesopotamians as they practiced agriculture and they depended much on rivers for irrigation. So why did they depend much on rivers rather than rainfall? well, apparently they did not get enough rainfall each year, so they cannot rely upon those rains.

yeah, so that's what i remembered =D (actually there's more,but, yeah)
